This Steam Chocolate Chip Muffins are low in carbs and sugar 😁. I love eating cakes but I’m mindful of the sugar and carbs that goes into cakes. So I have been experimenting with low carb less sugars cake recipes recently. This steam cake is one of the best low carb cake I’ve made so far. This recipe makes 8 steam cakes. The texture is like muffin. The steam cake is soft, moist and easily breaks apart but not too crumbly.
Special note:
- I used a bamboo basket. If you don’t have one, wrap lid with cloth to prevent water from dripping onto the cake
- I used superfine flour. Its a finely milled flour to make cakes and pastries. But you can also use plain/all purpose or cake flour
Ingredients:
- 180 grams almond flour 杏仁粉 180克
- 60 grams superfine flour/plain flour/all purpose flour/cake flour 细腻粉、低筋面粉、中筋面粉或蛋糕粉 60克
- 90 grams butter (softened) 黄油 (软)90克
- 30 grams caster sugar 细砂糖 30克
- 30 grams icing sugar 糖粉 30克
- 20 ml milk 牛奶 20克
- 50 grams (1/4 cup) chocolate chips 巧克力豆 50克(1/4杯)
